What do you do in your home country and what do you hope to do upon your return? In particular, with the integration of your experiences here?

Back home I am trained as a medical doctor and work as a clinical doctor in Douala working specifically with HIV treatment. I also work with the Loving Hearts Foundation, where we believe that there are so many resources that are wasted, not because they do not have value, but because people do not know how to use them. We work to connect those who need these things with those who have abilities for help. For example, this connects me, as a medical doctor, to people in my area who need a medical consultation.

I hope that this experience with the fellowship will help to bring this system global, so that the help that people need can be found within their own community. Here, I hope that the system that we have with my foundation can be brought to other communities and allow people access to these resources.

What is your favorite thing about your home country? How about Philadelphia?

The best thing about my home country is our dress code – it is unique and is the only dress code in Africa not shared among other countries on the continent.

For my favorite thing about Philadelphia, I have only been here for about 6 days and I already feel like I know the city. The most important thing that I have noticed about Philadelphia is the people, you guys are amazing, you have treated us as though you have always known us. It makes me feel as though this city is a home away from home.

Do you have any hobbies or an interesting fact you wish to share about yourself?

I like to drive cars, especially fast cars, and I like to watch sports.

If I were to come to your home country, what is the first thing I should eat?

You should try traditional eru, eaten with garri, which is made with ground cassava.
